Honoring Fanvid Artistry: Week 1.5
Oh boy, am I a sucker for this video. Although officially compiled in honor of SpinMax, the real emotional weight in this video is carried almost exclusively by Kirsten Storms, as Maxie Jones copes with the murder of her beloved sister, Georgie. Adele’s “Hometown Glory” provides the rhythm for the progression of clips. The quick transitions could seem frantic and unfocused in a less artfully composed fanvid, but the emotion between Maxie and Spinelli in the aftermath of Georgie’s death is a slow burn. This combination of building crescendo in the music and unfolding grief in the story makes for a satisfying three and half minutes.
And this is why I love Kirsten Storms. She isn’t over the top, her acting choices are subtle but powerful. Right around the 6:30 point… I can’t even. She is amazing. I dare you to watch and feel nothing.
